The Forster Surf Life Saving Club is nearing the completion of an $8M development, which promises to be a transformative asset for the area. Designed by Webber Architects, this multi-staged project has been a collaborative effort with the club and various stakeholders, aiming to revitalise local community engagement and enhance the regional foreshore.
Set against the harsh marine environment of Forster, NSW, the new building is designed with distinctive forms that reflect its multiple functionalities, including a function room, café, training area, members' space, and improved storage and amenities. Each space within the building has been meticulously designed to not only withstand the oceanic conditions but also to provide optimal comfort and utility for its users.
Sustainability and aesthetic appeal are at the heart of this project. The building uses PERMALITE® for all cladding and roofing, selected for its durability and ability to harmonise with the natural and built environment. The design incorporates PERMALITE® in LYSAGHT SNAPSEAM®, in a metallic Aries™ finish and Alspan in Glacier White, enhancing the building's energy efficiency and reducing heat absorption with its reflective properties.
This strategic development, with completion anticipated for Spring 2024, is set to boost facility usage, augment surveillance capabilities, and uplift the surrounding landscape, making the Forster Surf Life Saving Club a cornerstone of community and safety on the beachfront.
