Three eco lodge sites, Tjakura Camp, Tali Camp and Mala Camp, sit along a new five-day guided walk between Kata Tjuta and Uluru, on sacred Anangu land deep within a World Heritage listed national park. With no ground disturbance allowed and a grid connection required, the project called for an unconventional construction strategy. Troppo Architects drew on traditional Anangu wiltja forms to develop lightweight, prefabricated structures that sit within the dune landscape rather than imposing on it.
LYSAGHT CUSTOM ORB® and KLIP-LOK® roofing and cladding were specified in custom COLORBOND® steel Etna Red, chosen to weather and sit comfortably within the surrounding red desert landscape. LYSAGHT SHORELINE® and HALF ROUND® complete the design. Modules were fabricated off-site with most services pre‑installed, transported by road train to Yulara, and lifted into position by helicopter, with up to 19 placed in a single day.
