QUESTIONS?
The Elizabeth Building at San Damiano College delivers Art, Science and Design Technology teaching spaces, and gives the specialist learning precinct a marker on the outer edge of a fast growing campus. Fulton Trotter Architects delivered it across two stages: two art rooms, four design technology spaces with material stores, two science laboratories with preparation areas, student amenities and a series of external learning courts. The design encourages collaboration and connection between the creative, technical and scientific disciplines.
Rather than treating the roof and wall cladding as separate elements joined by conventional flashings or cappings, the mansard profile allows the roof and wall planes to flow into one another and strengthen the building’s geometry. The continuous metal skin in LYSAGHT CUSTOM ORB®, TRIMDEK® and KLIP‑LOK® is paired with masonry, creating a low‑maintenance palette suited to the subtropical Queensland climate.
