COURTYARD HOUSE
CONTACT LYSAGHT
QUESTIONS?
Courtyard House breaks from the suburban habit of sitting the home in the middle of the block. Cooper Scaife Architects put the footprint between five distinct courtyards instead, prioritising landscape and opening the house to garden views and natural light in all directions. A one metre fall across the Hamilton block, and a brief to provide for ageing in place, led to a terraced floor plan: living spaces, master bedroom, office and entry on a single accessible terrace at street level, with guest spaces pushed to the lower terrace for separation and privacy.
LYSAGHT ENSEAM® 265 was used as both wall cladding and roofing over the highlight windows, so the building's strong geometric language is carried by a single continuous material. The vertical quality of the standing seam profile captures shifting light and shadow in the courtyards, and the darkness of COLORBOND® steel Monument® recedes against the lush greens. LYSAGHT TRIMDEK® covers low pitched roof areas out of sight from ground level.
